Michigan SCECH Sponsor Readiness
Explanation of our status with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
Status: Preparing (Readiness Phase)
Positive Light Learning Network is compiling the physical files, record retention policies, evaluation plans, and coordinator credentials required to qualify as an approved Michigan Department of Education (MDE) SCECH Sponsor.
Completion certificates, portfolios, and badges issued prior to official approval do not represent state-recognized SCECH credits until we register with the state and upload credentials directly into the MOECS registry.
Designed for Future MDE SCECH Sponsor Readiness
Positive Light Learning Network is building a professional learning and micro-credential system designed for future Michigan SCECH sponsor readiness. Completion certificates and micro-credentials are not the same as awarded SCECH credit unless processed through an approved SCECH sponsor and MOECS.
Understanding Credential and Credit Classifications
To maintain absolute regulatory clarity and compliance, please review the operational differences between completion records, state clock hours, occupational certifications, and digital badges.
Completion Certificate
Documentary proof of course participation and syllabus completion. Issued instantly upon passing course exit requirements. Does not carry state-recognized continuing education credits on its own.
State-Recognized Credit (SCECH)
Official clock hours awarded by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for teacher certificate renewal. Requires processing by an approved SCECH sponsor and official upload to the MOECS registry.
Professional Certification
Formally accredited occupational credentials certifying standard compliance, professional standards mastery, or agency authorization to perform specialized educational roles.
Micro-Credential
Competency-based digital badge representing demonstrated mastery of a specific discrete skill. Granted after double-blind portfolio evaluation of classroom-ready evidence.
